Kuke beads are cut from the shell of a Brazilian palm nut. This selection has a lively, swirling pattern: each bead mixes honey, cream and walnut brown in its own way, and the rounded, slightly flattened shape sits comfortably on the wrist.

Kuke is one of the easiest materials to start with. Handle it often and it deepens in colour and takes on a soft shine within weeks.

Choosing your bracelet

  • Bead size is measured across the bead with calipers, from 8.5 mm to 13.5 mm. Smaller beads are light and easy to wear every day; larger beads fill the hand when you turn them.
  • Selection: Standard and Fine are the same kuke, sorted by surface. Fine pieces have fewer natural brown lines and spots. Standard pieces have more, and larger beads may show fine natural crazing.
  • Fit: strung for a 15.5 cm wrist. For another size, add your wrist measurement in the order note.

Natural brown lines and small spots are part of kuke, not flaws. Every bead is different, so the bracelet you receive will vary from the photos, which show representative examples.

Material & origin

Each listing states the material, origin and measurements of the piece. Natural materials vary — grain, colour, flecks and markings make every piece one of a kind; they are character, not flaws.

Bead size

Bead size is the width of one bead, in millimetres. Larger beads look bolder and feel heavier in the hand; smaller ones are lighter and quieter. Our size guide shows each size side by side.

Care & patina

Handle often, with clean and dry hands. Keep away from water, perfume, lotion and strong sun. Let new wood rest a day or two each week while the patina settles, and wipe with a soft cotton cloth — never oil or polish.

Shipping & returns

Shipping is free within the contiguous US: the 48 mainland states and Washington, DC. We can't yet deliver to Alaska, Hawaii, US territories or APO/FPO/DPO addresses.

US import duties are included in the price, so you don't pay them. If a carrier ever asks you for import charges, contact us and we will refund them.

Delivery times and returns are set out in our shipping policy and refund policy.
