Small rudraksha beads, the seeds of the Elaeocarpus tree, from old trees, chosen by the maker for an even shape with the hole running true through the centre. The maker soaks the seeds in water to lift the yellow outer layer and states there is no bleach or other treatment.

Choosing your strand

  • Bead size: from 9.5 mm to 12 mm, measured across the bead.

Every seed is different in shape and ridge pattern; the photos show representative examples.

Material & origin

Each listing states the material, origin and measurements of the piece. Natural materials vary — grain, colour, flecks and markings make every piece one of a kind; they are character, not flaws.

Bead size

Bead size is the width of one bead, in millimetres. Larger beads look bolder and feel heavier in the hand; smaller ones are lighter and quieter. Our size guide shows each size side by side.

Care & patina

Handle often, with clean and dry hands. Keep away from water, perfume, lotion and strong sun. Let new wood rest a day or two each week while the patina settles, and wipe with a soft cotton cloth — never oil or polish.

Shipping & returns

Shipping is free within the contiguous US: the 48 mainland states and Washington, DC. We can't yet deliver to Alaska, Hawaii, US territories or APO/FPO/DPO addresses.

US import duties are included in the price, so you don't pay them. If a carrier ever asks you for import charges, contact us and we will refund them.

Delivery times and returns are set out in our shipping policy and refund policy.
