Small 8 mm beads of zitan (Pterocarpus santalinus), left in a natural finish with no wax, oil or dye. The wood has an even, fine grain with few gold flecks, a cut collectors call "mud grain". It starts a warm red-brown and deepens toward a dark purple-red as it is worn and handled.

At 8 mm the beads are light and discreet, easy to wear every day on their own or next to a watch.

Like all natural wood, colour and grain vary from piece to piece; the photos show representative examples.

Bead size

Bead size is the width of one bead, in millimetres. Larger beads look bolder and feel heavier in the hand; smaller ones are lighter and quieter. Our size guide shows each size side by side.

Care & patina

Handle often, with clean and dry hands. Keep away from water, perfume, lotion and strong sun. Let new wood rest a day or two each week while the patina settles, and wipe with a soft cotton cloth — never oil or polish.

Shipping & returns

Shipping is free within the contiguous US: the 48 mainland states and Washington, DC. We can't yet deliver to Alaska, Hawaii, US territories or APO/FPO/DPO addresses.

US import duties are included in the price, so you don't pay them. If a carrier ever asks you for import charges, contact us and we will refund them.
